The Webster County Historical Society is pleased to announce that the latest issue of the Webster County Plat Book is now available.

The colorful cover pays homage to the tomato canning industry in Webster County and features some of the labeled cans that were so important at the time.

A new feature with the issue is the aerial map next to each township map. Also, in addition to the regular landowner index, there is also an index of landowners where only their initials appear because the park is too small to allow the full name.

The Society contacted Mapping Solutions to format the book, but the printing was done locally by Webster County Printing.

The publication is a fundraiser for the Historical Society. The books sell for $30 and can be purchased at the county clerk’s office, DD Hamilton, FCNB Insurance, the museum and Seymour Bank in Seymour. Wall maps and smart maps can also be obtained through Mapping Solutions. These purchases also benefit the Company. These purchases also benefit the Company.

A draw will take place on July 4 for a free wall map or smart/map. Register at the Museum. Hours are Tuesday through Sunday 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., phone 417-468-7407. Closed on Mondays.
