Contact 6 gets refunds; cruise near Russia, stolen car franchise

MILWAUKEE – The Contact 6 team worked hard to ease stress for Wisconsin consumers in May. Their resolutions ranged from paying off a stolen car to credit for a vacation near the Russian border.
Surveillance video from Jeri Lundt’s workplace shows thieves stole her car in February. The theft occurred a few meters from the entrance to his building.
“Later someone said, ‘why is there glass in the parking lot? ‘” Lundt told Contact 6. “It was just kind of devastating.”
Police later found Lundt’s car. It has been totaled.
Since Lundt leased the vehicle, his lender got the insurance check. He asked Lundt to make his last month’s payment and pay another $375.

“They said it was actually our part of the franchise,” Lundt said.

Lundt says the insurance money was more than her remaining balance on the car, so she thought the final two payments were unfair.
“I said, ‘I’ll contact the local station here in my town,'” Lundt said.
Lundt says four hours after Contact 6 emailed the company on her behalf, she received a phone call with an apology and a refund offer.
“It wouldn’t have happened without Contact 6,” Lundt said.

Lundt’s $675 is part of the $70,500 that FOX6 viewers say the consumer segment helped them save in May. The Contact 6 case manager has helped get money from insurance companies, warranty providers, cell phone carriers and more. She even helped a cancer patient get medical data from an erased chart.

Barb Borden wrote to Contact 6 with concerns about her upcoming Baltic Sea cruise.
“We started to worry a bit about security. The Baltic Sea is a huge port for Russia,” Borden said.
With tensions rising between Russia, Finland and Sweden over NATO membership, cruise lines had canceled several cruises to the region, but not Borden’s.

“I asked to be taken off the cruise. ‘No ma’am,’ Borden recalled over the phone.”[I was told] you can cancel, but you won’t get your money back.”

Borden says two days after Contact 6 emailed the cruise line, she received a call from the company.
“Saying they had received a letter from our local news agency and offering us cruise credit for the full amount we paid,” Borden recalled. “Finally we heard something, and finally they did something about it.”
Borden’s credit was over $6,000. His family is embarking on another European cruise in October.
“I can’t even say how much I enjoy Contact 6,” Borden said.

So far in 2022, viewers say Contact 6 has helped them save over $215,000. To find out if Contact 6 may be able to help you, we invite you to fill out a complaint form.
