Jacey Stahl Collins Charged With Sexual Contact With Student

A 22-year-old substitute teacher is accused of having had sexual contact with a student who was in her classes. Police said they went to the student’s home when his parents went out to have sex with him, texted him and then asked him to destroy his phone.
Jacey Bayne (Stahl) Collins, also known as Jacey Bayne Stahl, of Aldritch, Missouri, was arrested on Dec. 9 after a joint investigation by the Jasper County and Barton County Sheriff’s Departments. She was a full-time supply teacher for the Golden City School District. According to Joplin’s Globe, the Golden City Schools are located in Barton County but have part of Jasper County in their district, including the home of the student with whom Stahl allegedly had an illegal relationship.
The student’s age and name are redacted in court records and he is only identified by his initials.
The court set Collins’ bail at $ 10,000 when she was arrested. She paid the 10% cash a week later and was released with a restriction that she was prohibited from having contact with any of her former students or anyone under the age of 18.
KOAM reported that court documents described the interview with the student by investigators, who said Collins came to his home in February when his parents were away and had sex with him. He told authorities that Collins subsequently continued to communicate with him via text and social media. Collins allegedly asked another student to ask him to destroy his cell phone, offering to buy him a new one to replace it. He didn’t destroy his phone.
Southwest Missouri Cybercrime Task Force investigators examined the students ‘phones and said they found Collins’ contact details and “multiple” messages, both text and social media, between Collins and the student. They attempted to reach Collins and conduct an interview with her, but apparently to no avail, and then applied for the warrant for her arrest.
Accompanied by her lawyer, Collins was arraigned Wednesday in Jasper County Circuit Court on one charge, sexual contact with a student, who, under Missouri Rev. Stat. § 566.086 is a Class E crime. The law prohibits sexual contact between students and teachers, employees, volunteers, elected or appointed officials of their school, or third party contractors providing services to their school, and the student consent to sexual contact is not a defense.
Collins pleaded not guilty. His next court appearance is scheduled for February 9, 2022.
