Kenya: Sauti Sol guitarist speaks out on book launch
Otieno, member of the Sauti Sol group, Polycarp ‘Fancy Fingers’, has released a children’s book called ‘Written in the Stars’.
The book is part of a series called Daddy and Me which should be released in the next few months.
The Father of One released the book a week after the release of his debut solo EP titled Father Studies, a gentle rhythmic reflection of fatherhood.
He celebrated the news on Instagram on Wednesday, noting that Africa needs to tell its own stories.
With the release of the book, Polycarp continues its journey to fatherhood by focusing on the stories we tell our children.
âAfrica needs to tell its own stories. For a very long time, our history has been passed down verbally from generation to generation. inventions and the brilliance of the African people, âhe said.
“Therefore, the content that we give to our children is very important, as they learn more about the true essence of who they are and where they come from. There has not been enough African content for children. That being said, let me present to you “WRITTEN IN THE STARS” !! the first in the “Daddy and Me Series” which should launch in the next few months. “

The book was conceptualized by Polycarp ‘Fancy Fingers’ written by Melissa Wakhu and illustrated by Mathew Odwyre, an animator.
Written in the Stars is a celebration of African culture and is based on inspiring African men to become more involved in their fatherhood and intentionally while they are at it.
The book is currently available for purchase at bookstores in Nairobi and on Hustle Sasa.
