Pateros publishes contact sports guidelines – Manila Bulletin
The mayor of Pateros, Miguel “Ike” Ponce III, authorized basketball games in the municipality but established a rule for minors.
Ponce issued guidelines for contact sports after they were cleared by the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) under Alert Level 2.
As per IATF guidelines, contact sports are permitted under Alert Level 2 subject to approval by the local government units where these games will be held.
Contact sports and other activities are permitted “at a maximum of 50% of the capacity of indoor venues for fully vaccinated persons and those under 18 years of age, even if not vaccinated, and 70% of the capacity external sites ”, according to the guidelines of the IATF.
“We now allow basketball games on the courts when not in use, but there will be controls to implement,” Ponce said on a live Facebook broadcast.
He said those 18 and over should be fully immunized before they are allowed to play basketball games.
For the 12 to 17 year olds who are not vaccinated, Ponce said they were temporarily allowed to play basketball, but only until December 15.
After December 15, unvaccinated 12 to 17 year olds will no longer be allowed to play basketball.
Ponce urged parents to register their minor children for vaccination.
The municipal government has launched an express registration for minors by SMS.
Parents of Pateros can register their children by sending their name, date of birth and address to the mobile number 09496235555. They will receive an SMS on the vaccination schedule.
As of November 11, the municipal government of Pateros had vaccinated 2,368 minors between the ages of 12 and 17.
